World’s second largest car manufacturer, Volkswagen, launched their much awaited 2011 VW Jetta in Mumbai, India on August 17, 2011. The car is priced between Rs. 14,12,000 to Rs. 18,00,000 and is available in four variants across Volkswagen’s 75 dealerships in India. Volkswagen started accepting the bookings for the car with its launch.
The 2011 VW Jetta is built on the PQ35 platform and is powered by a 2.0 liter diesel engine which generates 140PS at 4,200 rpm and a torque of 320 Nm at 1750-2500 rpm. The car maker also offers the choice of both 6-speed manual and 6 speed DSG transmission with this car. Apart from churning out better output, the new 2011 Jetta is more spacious in comparison to the current model. New features include day time running lamps and new Navarra alloy wheel design.
The interiors of the car boast of features such as touch screen, audio system, cruise control, hill start assist and leather seat upholstery. The car is also equipped with Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and 8 airbags for safety and to minimize injuries in case of an accident. The new 2011 Jetta would compete against Skoda Laura, Renault’s Fluence and Honda Civic.
Mr. Neeraj Garg, Member of Board and Director, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd. stated during the launch of the new 2011 Jetta that the car has been a worldwide bestseller for Volkswagen, and with the sixth generation Jetta, the company hopes to continue this success story in an important market like India.
