Ford India’s DSFL program to promote safe, economic and eco-friendly driving

As a part of its commitment to promote a better and safer driving community; Ford India is increasing its Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) program in India. As a part of this program free training is being offered to promote safe, economic and eco-friendly driving.

Talking about the company’s commitment to India, Nigel Wark, Ford’s Executive Director of Marketing Sales and Service stated that as the company maintains to produce and sell more cars in India, it was the company’s obligation to do what they could to help improve road safety, fuel economy and cost of ownership. He stated “By following a few simple rules, drivers can make exponential improvements to safety and to the cost of driving. Anyone on the roads in India can attest to the fact that we all have room to improve.”

Ford which introduced DSFL in the US in 2003 has adapted this program for various markets since then. The program was started in India in 2009 and has trained more than 2,000 participants so far, including the Delhi Traffic Police, Chennai Traffic Police, Rotary Clubs and MCRT. Ford also plans to reach out to the media groups as a part of the program. The program blends classroom learning with practical training. It includes a module on economical driving behavior, which emphasizes on safe driving techniques and ways to drive more economically with reduced environment impact. The program also has a module on safe driving skills, which focuses on the use of safety belts, avoiding distractions and maintaining a safe distance between vehicles on the road.

To know more about the DSFL program, Ford is encouraging people to visit any Ford dealership in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Chandigarh.
