Audi India launches special edition A6

Luxury car company Audi launched a special edition version of the A6 this week, as part of its centenary celebrations. The car, priced at Rs 37 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai), will be available at dealerships across India starting from January 1, 2010. It is powered by a 2.7 litre V6 diesel engine, and runs on turbo-diesel injection (TDI) technology. Audi India Managing Director, Mr Benoit Tiers, said that the Audi A6 is the company’s most successful sedan, and has been a major growth-driver for it. The limited edition of the car, he said, is the company’s way to thank its ‘valued customers in India’.

The company sold a total of 1,550 units in India from January to November 2009, compared to the 1,050 units sold in 2008. It currently sells seven models in the country including the SUVs Q7 and Q5, the sedans A6, A8, and A4, the sports coupe TT and the super sports car Audi R8.
