Volvo to fasten seat belts for operation in India

Volvo decides to go into discussions with its parent company in Sweden to start local assembly of its cars in India. Volvo is also considering possible synergies with Ford Motor India for belting out of cars locally.US Ford Motors globally owns Volvo’s passenger car business.

“By the end of this year, we would start discussing possible assembly operations in India with our parent in Sweden. As of now we have had no discussions with Ford on possible synergies in India but we might include them in our talks in Sweden,” said Paul De Voijs, MD, Volvo Car India. “We may introduce XC60 in India next year while we are testing the market for C70. XC60 would be launched globally by the end of this year.”
