Volkswagen plans big line up for India.

Volkswagen India has increased its investment in its Chakan plant to Rs3500 crore from the originally estimated figure of Rs2500 crore. This investment would be the highest ever by any German company in India. The total capacity of the plant would be 1.10 lakh cars and will be operational in 2009.
The company’s ambitious plans also include launching Beetle, Polo, Phaeton, Jetta, Toureg and a small car till 2012.
The company will import Beetle, Phaeton and Toureg. While Jetta, which would cost around 13 lakhs to 15 lakhs, will be assembled at the Aurangabad unit.
In addition, the company will also launch a car for Rs 5 lakh
