Though India important for Nissan, the reins will be held by Bajaj Autos

While India is a very important market for Nissan for the entry-segment cars, Nissan maintains that it doesn’t desire for a controlling stake in the JV with Renault and Bajaj Autos. During the Geneva Motor Show, Nissan’s Vice-President Carlos Tavares said, “Our competence lies in our technology and we are not eager to keep control.”

Apart from the liaison between Bajaj-Renault-Nissan, the sister companies Renault and Nissan have also invested $1.1 billion in a plant in Oragadam near Chennai for production of small cars for regional use in India and for exports to selected destinations. This global car strategy will suggests manufacturing of cars using Indian sourcing and its engineering competence.
