The details of the small car to be manufactured under the joint venture of Bajaj-Renault-Nissan is only a “few weeks” away from finalization, said the Bajaj Auto Ltd managing director Mr. Rajiv Bajaj.
The magnanimous venture to produce a car which could give competition to Tata’s Nano was first undertaken by Bajaj. It was only later that Renault joined the ride and Nissan later still. Carlos Ghosn’s company, of which Nissan also forms a part, has about 44.4 percent stake in the venture.
While Mr. Bajaj described the time limit as a few weeks, a Renault official said, “At this stage, we are unable to comment on any date for the final agreement.”
This concept car was first showcased in the Auto Expo as was its rival, Nano. After seeing the response welcomed by Nano, Renault’s CEO Ghosn winked that the expected price of the four-wheels under the JV might not be the earlier stated 3000 dollars but 2550 dollars.
