The Bajaj car might not be for 3000 dollars. In fact, it might not be branded Bajaj!

Rajiv Bajaj seems to be in a good mood not to name his new small car built in the tripartite cooperation of Bajaj, Renault and Nissan under either of the brand names. “I would be concerned if it will be branded Bajaj because I do not see why the hell anybody should buy a Bajaj car,” Mr. Bajaj was quoted as saying.

He resumed, “I would also be concerned if the car is going to be branded Nissan because I do not think that the best thing for a car is to be branded as the cheapest Nissan.” The same argument goes for Renault too.

While partners Renault and Nissan’s CEO Carlos Ghosn has been excited about the 3000 dollars car and discussing it as an alternative to Tata’s Nano, the Managing Director of Bajaj Autos says, “Price is not important. I buy the argument that for a lot of people on two-wheelers, three-wheelers and second-hand cars, it makes a lot of sense to go for a new car. Give them mileage of 35 kmpl in a car and then see the magic work.”
