Tata Motors sales decline by 58 percent in July 2013

Tata Motors registered sales 10,824 units in July 2013 as against 26,240 units sold in July 2012, a decline of about 58%. The Nano, Indica and Vista and Indigo/Manza range sold 8,546 units and Sumo/ Safari/ Aria/ Venture sold 2,278 units in July 2013.

Tata Motors’ cumulative sales of passenger vehicles were 45,332 units in the first four months of this fiscal. For the Nano/Indica/Indigo range, it was 36,019 units while those of the Sumo/Safari/Aria/ Venture range were 9,313 units.

The company has refreshed its entire passenger range and in mid-June had put them on display at a high-decibel event in Pune. It has also launched a CNG line-up for the Nano, Indica and Indigo under the e-Max template. A host of service-oriented initiatives has also begun.

The slowdown in the CV sector continues to impact the company. In July 2013, Tata Motors sold 36,367 units comprising 26,609 LCVs and 9,758 M&HCVs. A year ago, CV sales were 42,387 units. Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the local market for the current fiscal (April-July 2013) were 143,615 units comprising 102,583 LCVs and 41,032 M&HCVs.

Tata Motors’ total sales (including exports) of commercial and passenger vehicles in July 2013 were 51,468 vehicles as against 73,491 units in the year-earlier month, a fall of 42 percent. Domestic sales of commercial and passenger vehicles for July 2013 were 47,191 units. Cumulative sales (including exports) for the fiscal were 204,659 units. On the export front, sales were 4,277 units in July 2013. Cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal were 15,712 units.
