Tara’s Tiny coming to give Tata’s Nano competition

Tara International’s Tiny is a green car which will be rechargeable at 220 volts from a 15 ampere socket. The car will be made available at Rs. 99,999 and added VAT and couple of other taxes.

So Nano’s competition is already here. In the wake of increasing awareness about environment, green cars make a lot of sense. While Maini’s Reva is already available in this category, it can be a bit heavy on pockets. With the kind of price tag that Tiny is boasting of, a speed of 50-70 kmph and operating cost of 40-70 paise per kilometer, Tiny seems set to become the new revolution on streets.

Tara International is being produced in collaboration with Aucma from China. That is, for a while. As Tara International’s group chairman, Tara Shankar Ganguly, says, “The four-wheelers are slated to be totally indigenized in 2 years. We will follow a business model where a network of integrated manufacturers will be involved in the production process. This will encourage young entrepreneurs.”

After Tiny, Tara plans to come out with Tara Titu, Tara Micro and Tara Mini.
