Toyota Camry new edition to be launched next week

Toyota CamryToyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) will be launching a new edition of its luxury sedan, the Toyota Camry, next week. Sales of the Camry fell by a whopping 75 per cent in the April-June period in 2009, forcing the company to rethink its sales strategy for the car. The major reason for the fall in sales is the competition from the revamped Skoda Superb and Skoda Auto’s aggressive marketing of the car. The new Superb has eaten into a major portion of the Camry’s market share. There was an eight-fold jump in the sales of the Superb in the April-June period. The 2.4 litre Superb is priced between Rs 20.97 lakh and Rs 22.58 lakh, while the 1.8 litre Camry is priced at Rs 18.89 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new version of the Camry will feature a new front grille, headlamps, fog lights and rear view mirrors with indicators, among other changes in the car’s look.

  1. The Camry will definitely help Toyota Kirloskar Motor to revive the loss it has incurred in the April-June period in 2009. It is expected that the Camry with its features will beat the Skoda Superb.
