Reva sets up new plant, to increase production

Bangalore based Reva Electric Car Company, is in the process of expanding its manufacturing facility. The new unit being added will have a production capacity of 30,000 cars per year, as against the plant’s current 6,000 unit capacity. It will be operational by the end of the year 2009. The company plans to bring out the next generation Reva from this plant.

RECC’s most recently developed version of the Reva, the Reva L-ion, is powered by lithium ion batteries and can run up to 200 km on one charge. It will be formally launched in the second half of this year. The current Reva, which is a two-seater, runs only 80 km on one charge. It costs Rs. 2.99 lakh in Delhi (on-road), after discount. In future, the company plans to launch bigger cars. It is also conceptualizing a 13-seater mini bus.

  1. Govt. must reduce Taxes and give subsidy as well .
The Co. should see that the servcing and Charging facilities are well provided so the owner finds it easy to drive around.

I did opt for this car but taking into consideration the non-availability of Charging facilities and servising centre I have opted out.

I am driving all over India , since 1953 and used all most all the models available in India including Mercedeze and Nissan and would Reccomend now Electirc Cars taking into consideratiom the price of Fuels, the worry about Environment. It is shameful on part of Govt. not to bother for all this and the Customer who is made to pay multiple Taxes at every step and still neglected.
