Tata Motors has silently launched a new top variant of its compact sedan Zest, and the variant name is Tata Zest XTA. This new variant is the automatic variant of its existing XT variant which is available with diesel engine. The Zest XTA Quadrajet 90PS with an automated manual transmission (AMT) is available at priced Rs. 8.07 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi ) while the XT Quadrajet 90PS manual variant at priced Rs. 7.34 lakhs (white ex-Showroom, New Delhi). Thus, buyers will have to shell out Rs 72,000 more for the automatic gearbox.
The Tata Zest was the first diesel sedan to be launched with AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) last year and became the most affordable car with diesel engine in India. Tata integrated the AMT on the mid-level diesel variant, and though market response was fairly decent but customers are now looking for the automatic Zest with top-end features also. So the Tata Motors now introduces XTA (AMT) with some extra features also. Company has officially announced, but a number of dealers have started accepting bookings for the Zest XTA and some dealers have confirmed a waiting period of 2-4 weeks.

This is the advanced version of XT variant so, XTA comes with some extra features over the XT variant like Harman infotainment system, dual airbags with alarm system, automatic climate control, alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, height adjustable driver’s seat, rear defogger and daytime-running lights.

The Tata Zest XTA is powered by the Fiat-sourced 1.3-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with a VGT technology that generates 90 PS of power at 4,000rpm and 200 Nm of torque between 1,750-3,000rpm with a certified fuel efficiency of 21.58 kmpl.
