Cuba – The world’s largest living car museum

Cubans had not been allowed to buy or sell cars for more than 50 years. As a result of  the success of the Fidel Castro led revolution in 1959 and the reform of the Cuban government along communist lines, whoever had a car kept it. Until a recent relaxation of these rules, buying and selling cars had been a near impossible task. Due to these restrictions, Cuba became the world’s largest living museum of classic and vintage cars. Our editorial team visited Cuba to check out all these beautiful cars and bring them to you to admire.

As a country, Cuba is opening up to the world.  The United States in recent years has loosened its half century old trade embargo and made travel to Cuba much easier for US citizens. With the increasing influx of tourist money and cash transfers by Cuban Americans, the country has started changing. These changes are bringing prosperity to those people who can earn in hard currency. Cuba needs foreign direct investment to revamp its economy and seems to be doing all it can, given its past history, to learn the skills needed to manage the opening up of its economy.

  1. Aah Cuba, there is hardly anything prettier than this nation. Of course you do have the Cuban Cigars!
You won’t get the best sports car out there but plenty of old school open booted Cadillacs, unlike cars in India. Cuba always reminds us of narrow bustling lanes with road side eatries, tequila and fancy classic cars.of
How come there’s no open boot car on your slides? It would be great to see some.
On a different note, the inclusion of the old shanties by the road is a great sight. Unlike cars in India the Cubans enjoy a significant advantage. Although the presence of the best sports car is nice.
