On the sidelines of the ongoing Geneva Motor Show, Mr. Ratan Tata informed journalists that there might be licensed manufacturing of the mass car Nano. “Every decision must be based on the demand for the car. If we cannot meet it, we will look at licensed manufacturing. In order to create opportunities for manufacturers, the company can consider having franchise manufacturing units, by selling licenses to young entrepreneurs to make the car,” said the Tata Chairman.
Geneva saw the first showcasing of the car outside of India. Though the prices of the car for the European markets weren’t divulged but Mr. Tata maintained that those markets will also see Nano as the cheapest and the most affordable family car.
