Mercedes C-Class

So what’s new? The third-generation Mercedes Benz C-Class is 68 mm longer than its predecessors and 42 mm wider. The wheelbase has gone 45 mm northwards from 2715 mm. These dimensions translate into more space and hence, more comfort.

DaimlerChrysler AG hasn’t introduced A-Class in India and hence, C-Class is India’s Baby Benz, considering it’s the cheapest Merc that you can get. This is at around 25 lakhs for C200 Kompressor four-cylinder 1.8L 178bhp and 28 lakhs for C220 CDI diesel 2.2L with an output of 170bhp.

C-Class in sporty without going over the top and is “Metal craftsmanship” at its best. This new Merc has a more youthful styling going for it and sharper headlamps and flared wheel arches and is big enough and grand enough to pass for S-Class! The interiors are elegantly luxurious and out do any other car in this segment.

The new C-Class is loaded with safety features – 6 airbags, Pre-Safe (something that was only offered in S-Class earlier), Neck Pro, ESP and Brake Assist.

This car, after about a month of its launch, has already sold 230 odd units. With C-Class, the ball has come back from BMW and Audi’s Court to Mercedes’.
