With the new competitive launches since the last year, Tata Motors has been experiencing a downfall in the sales of its bestsellers, Indica and Indigo. While Nano has been creating waves, Indica sales have dropped 5% in April 07 to February 08. Indigo sales have fallen 12% in the same period.
Recently Tata launched a new engine in Indica called Indica Dicor and introduced a new Indigo called Indigo CS priced at Rs. 3.67 lakhs to give a boost to the sales and managed to push them to 3,322 in number. Considering Indica is going through a product maturity phase, the company intends to revamp the car with a 1.3L diesel engine from Fiat.
