Hyundai Motor India has silently launched the Hyundai Elite i20 1.4L Automatic variant in Magna at priced Rs. 9.01 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and the new variant is now available for sale across dealerships in India.
The Hyundai Elite i20 1.4-litre AT gets a 4-speed automatic transmission coupled to a 1,368cc 4-cylinder VTVT petrol engine that generates 100 PS of power @ 6,000rpm and 132.5Nm of torque @ 4,000rpm. It means the engine develops 17 PS higher than the existing manual transmission-equipped Elite i20 that has 1,197cc 4-cylinder engine with 83PS of power and 115Nm of torque.

This variant will be loaded with existing Magna variant features; like Driver & Passenger Airbag, Central locking, Keyless Entry, Full Wheel Covers, music system with 1GB internal memory, Front & Rear Speakers, Bluetooth Connectivity, Steering Wheel with Audio & Bluetooth Controls, front power windows, rear HVAC vents and chilled glovebox. But it misses out the features like ABS and EBD, alloy wheels, projector headlights, rear parking camera and sensors, touchscreen entertainment system and automatic climate control.
Apart from the new automatic variant, the company has also added side and curtain airbags to the top-end Elite i20 Asta (O) variant in both petrol and diesel engine. So this variant is now available with 6-airbags at priced at Rs. 7,75,828 for the petrol variant and Rs. 8,99,992 for the diesel model (ex-showroom Delhi.
The Hyundai Elite i20 petrol Automatic is priced higher than its closest rivals like the Honda Jazz and Maruti Baleno came with CVT gearbox on the petrol variants. The expensive price tag can be attributed to the larger displacement engine, due to which the i20 AT is not classified as a ‘small car’ and the corresponding excise duty increases from 12.5 percent to 24 percent.
