Honda not interested in cheap cars

Unlike other Japanese manufacturers Nissan and Mitsubishi, Honda doesn’t want to get into the race for manufacturing dirt-cheap cars. Speaking on Friday, Takeo Fukui, the President of Honda said, “I don’t think our Indian customers buy cars that are cheaper but at the same time poor in quality.

“Whether it is the Indian market or the Chinese market, I believe that the state-of-art safety and environmental friendly technologies are necessary for our products,” said he. Believing that motorcycles will soon be contending with cars in India, Mr. Fukui said, “Honda will not make cars at such a low price.” He said that he was hopeful that people in developing economies will be more willing to pay for greener and safer technologies, both conducive to the environment and themselves.
