Hyundai India launches the New Fluidic Elantra

Hyundai launched the neo Fluidic Elantra on August 13, 2012 at a packed news conference which incidentally included a fashion show by Shantanu and Nikhil. Mr. B S Seo, Managing Director & CEO of Hyundai Motor India Limited and his team were both enthusiastic about the prospects of the Elantra and cautious about the prospects for the auto industry given the depressed state of the macroeconomic environment in the country. Hyundai has seen a 10% volume growth in the first half of 2012 and expects its new product launches to both generate some excitement and to further cement the Hyundai brand in the hearts and minds of auto buyers.

The new Elantra helps cover a gaping hole in the Hyundai portfolio. Hyundai traditionally has been a small car company in India. But the goal for a large car manufacturer is to be present in all segments so as to be able to offer a steady upgrade path to its customers and to keep them in the family. The new Elantra fits in very well just above the Verna and if looks were everything, then they have a winner on their hands. The Elantra is a globally successful sedan and was awarded the “2012 North American Car of the Year” at the Detroit Auto Show.

  1. I feel they have missed a trick in the pricing, why will any pay the same amount on money for a 1.6 diesel if they are getting a 1.8 or 2.0 at a similar price.
