Honda CR-V diesel 1.6 i-DTEC – specifications confirmed

Honda has confirmed specifications for CR-V 1.6 i-DTEC diesel which is available in three variant trim – S, SE and SR internationally, and will launch in India soon.
The CR-V diesel is available in two-wheel drive only and features a 6-speed manual gearbox with an exact capacity of 1,597cc. It offers a maximum power output of 120PS at 4,000rpm while maximum torque is 300Nm at 2,000rpm.

The combination of a light weight engine and two-wheel drive system means that the new CR-V 1.6 i-DTEC weighs 116kg less than the 2.2 i-DTEC model which not only helps to bring down emissions and achieve better fuel economy, but ensures sure-footedness whilst also delivering agile handling.

The styling maintains the same confident stance adopted at the introduction of the 4th generation CR-V and retains the impressive practicality with up to 1669 litres of luggage capacity. The new CR-V 1.6 i-DTEC also features Honda’s easy fold-down 60/40 split rear seats which can be folded flat in one movement. At the pull of a handle, the CR-V can be transformed from a five-seater passenger car into a versatile load-lugger.

The new 1.6 i-DTEC diesel engine made its debut in the British built Civic earlier this year and now it’s making its way into the popular CR-V. With increasing demand for lower cost motoring, the trend for two-wheel diesel SUVs has grown and now represents over a quarter of the total C-SUV market in Europe. The new CR-V 1.6 i-DTEC is tackling this trend head on.

With the new 1.6 i-DTEC engine in the CR-V, customers get the best of both worlds; the practicality and styling of an SUV with the lower emission and fuel efficiency that a small diesel engine offers. Fuel economy on the combined cycle is up to an impressive 62.8 mpg and means the CR-V has the potential to cover up to 800 miles on one tank of fuel. In addition, CO2 emissions as low as 119g/km mean the CR-V 1.6 i-DTEC qualifies for just £0 road tax for the first year and as low as £30 annual road tax thereafter.
