Honda Cars India to follow aggressive pricing strategy

Honda Cars India, the wholly owned Indian subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda is planning to adopt an aggressive pricing strategy for the Indian car market. The carmaker has already started implementing discounts and price cuts on its existing products in India.

As part of its new pricing strategy, Honda India has reduced the price of the CR-V SUV by Rs 3,00,000 in addition to price cuts on the Honda Jazz premium hatchback and the City sedan. The automaker also plans to aggressively price its upcoming car model, the diesel powered Amaze sedan based on the Brio platform.

With its new aggressive strategy for the Amaze sedan, the Japanese carmaker plans to compete directly with the Maruti Suzuki DZire, the largest selling sedan in India. The auto manufacturer has also been expanding its dealership network to rural and semi-urban areas to increase its reach and presence in the Indian car market.

Honda will rely on its Tapukara facility in Rajasthan for the production of critical engine parts and body shells with the aim of reducing costs and also avail the localization benefits. The car production will take place at the company’s Greater Noida plant.
