Grande Punto will not only take on Swift and Getz in terms of the market but also in terms people’s pockets. Fiat is planning for this beauty to be priced way above the other hatchbacks of the same segment. Punto is touted to be sold as a lifestyle product.
“Even as the car falls in the same class, we may price Grande Punto at a premium compared with Swift and Getz,” said Fiat India’s Managing Director, De Filippis Giovanni. In the coming times, Punto will be available only in petrol version though diesel version is also being considered. Fiat is hopeful that it will be able to sell 3000-4000 units of the car a month.
The car will be produced out of Tata and Fiat’s joint Ranjangaon facility. Giovanni also commented that Tata will be responsible for Fiat’s marketing of cars. “We will only produce cars and its upto Tata Motors to market them.”
