General Motors India has registered a record growth of 51 percent in sales in March 2008 as compared to the corresponding period last year. It has sold 6, 836 units in March 2008 as against 4,542 units in March 2007. March 2008 sales figures became the highest-ever achieved by GM India since its inception. The March 2008 sales comprise of 1820 units of the Chevrolet Tavera, 1589 units of the Chevrolet Aveo, 710 units of the Chevrolet Optra, 2397 units of the Chevrolet Spark and 320 units of the Chevrolet Captiva.
GM India has witnessed a all year growth of 71 percent for the period of April 2007 -March 2008 over the corresponding period last year. It has sold 66, 543 units during the period between April 2007 -March 2008, as against 38, 857 units sold between April 2006 – March 2007. GM India also posted an impressive 57 percent year-to-date sales growth for the period of January – March 2008 over the corresponding period last year.
“Achieving these levels of growth clearly reflects the customers’ confidence in the Chevrolet brand and the consistent growth in monthly sales is an indication of the success of all our carlines.
