Captivating enough??
Another Chevy to ride to the levy. Chevrolet has just introduced its new SUV Captiva VCDi in India. And why Captiva, pray, when the market’s flooded with SUVs already? Because Honda CR-V and Suzuki Grand Vitara are only available in petrol variants. And while Hyundai’s Tuscon supports CRDi engine, it didn’t strike a chord with Indians. Ford’s Endeavour is the only one which rules the roost in the diesel-SUV segment.
Captiva is being promoted as a glamorous and elegant alternative to the 7-seating configuration MPVs in India. Definitely not an “off-road” vehicle, General Motors is still maintaining that this girl will behave herself on the bumpier rides too.
What one wonders, though, is that will this Korean beauty be able to detract and then allure the Japanese Honda fan-following in India? And priced at 17-odd lakhs at that! Nah! I don’t think so! GM should seriously consider slashing down on the price of this one, if it is aiming at a winner in its Indian stables. Or? Or just take a graceful bow out!
