Honda India to launch the Mobilio MPV in second half of 2014

Honda Cars India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese carmaker Honda is planning to launch the much awaited new Mobilio MPV in India in the third quarter of the year 2014. The new car model was recently showcased by the carmaker at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014 in February 2014.

The Mobilio multi-purpose vehicle is a seven seater car model based on the Brio platform. The new car will be powered by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and alternately a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel, which also power the new Honda City sedan.

In line with the upcoming new car launches, the carmaker has also inaugurated its second production in India at Tapukara (Rajasthan). The new plant will equip the carmaker to meet the increase in demand for its car models such as the Amaze compact sedan and the City mid-size sedan. It will also enable the carmaker to smoothly launch new car products in India with lesser disruption in deliveries.

Also planned for the Indian car market is the next generation of the Jazz premium hatchback which is expected to be launched by early 2015. Both the Jazz and the Mobilio car models will be manufactured at the new production plant at Tapukara.
