Honda Cars India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda has launched the new fourth generation Honda City sedan for the Indian car market on January 7, 2014. The new car model which was earlier showcased by the carmaker at the World Premiere event in India has been introduced in India at an entry level price of Rs 7,42,000 (Ex-showroom Delhi).
The new City sedan marks the introduction of the 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine developed specially by Honda for the Indian car market and makes the sedan the second car model in India by Honda to sport a diesel engine. The new car model is claimed to sport a mileage of 26 kilometers per liter. The bookings for the new sedan have already been opened by the carmaker and 9,000 bookings have already been made by car buyers.
The delivery of the diesel powered version will commence immediately while the petrol version will be available from mid February 2014.
The new Honda city has been developed at Honda’s Research and Development Center in Japan after extensive market surveys regarding the driving requirements and people’s lifestyles in India and ASEAN countries. The new car model also displays Honda’s new design concept called “Exciting H Design”.
India will become the first country to be manufacturing the new Honda City which will eventually be exported and sold to about 60 global auto markets.
