Tata Motors launches the Nano CNG emax at Rs 2,52,000

Indian automobile manufacturer Tata Motors has launched the CNG version of the small car Nano in the Indian car market at an entry price of Rs 2,52,000 (Ex-showroom Mumbai). The Nano CNG emax is claimed by the carmaker to have the lowest carbon footprint.

The new Nano CNG version is also claimed to offer a mileage of 36 kilometers per kilograms and is priced higher than the existing Nano model by a range of Rs 54,000 to Rs 87,000. In addition to the CNG version of the Nano, Tata Motors is also developing a diesel version of the Nano which is currently in the testing phase.

The Nano CNG emax car model is first of a series of emax CNG car models by Tata Motors and will be available at all CNG car markets in India namely Delhi, Gujarat, Lucknow and parts of Maharashtra.

The new CNG version of the Nano is expected by the carmaker to boost sales amid sluggish sales for the carmaker. The automaker has been having trouble selling the Nano and the Sanand facility in Gujarat which is dedicated to the production of the Nano has been running below half the total capacity.

Despite discounts and other freebies, Tata Motors has not been able to draw in customers to Nano showrooms and its dedicated Nano plant at Sanand in Gujarat is running much below even half its capacity.
