Audi commences local assembly of Q3 SUV in India

Audi India, the Indian arm of the German luxury automobile manufacturer Audi has announced the commencement of local assembly of the Audi Q3 sports utility vehicle in India. The Q3 SUV is the fifth car model to be assembled in India at Skoda’s Aurangabad facility.

A new production unit has been constructed for the Audi Q3 spread across an area of 20,000 square feet. According to Dr. Frank Dreves Board Member Audi, starting the local assembly of the Audi Q3 SUV is in line with Audi’s long term strategy for the Indian car market.

Mr. Joe King Head of Audi India also commented that local production of the Audi Q range models will reduce the waiting period for the customers in India and will enable the automaker to launch a wider range of car versions in the Indian market.

Audi India has reported a growth of 19 percent in its sales for the period January – August 2013 over the sales for the same period in 2012.
