Lamborghini opens its second showroom in Delhi India

Lamborghini, the Italian luxury sports car manufacturer has opened its second showroom in India in the capital city of New Delhi. The carmaker expects to surpass its 2012 sales in the current year 2013 amid higher taxes on imports in the Indian car market.

The automaker sold a total of 17 cars in Indian market in the year 2012 and is targeting 20 car sales in the year 2013. A third showroom is also being planned to be opened in Bangalore by the luxury carmaker.

According to the company, the effective tax on sports luxury cars import can be as high as 200 percent raising the price of the cars by three times the actual cost to the buyer. Commenting on the Indian car market, Mr. Stephan Winkelmann President and CEO Automobili Lamborghini stated that such taxation rules are having an adverse effect on its sales in India. He added that these sports cars are highly innovational technological products and do not create any traffic or pollution problems.

The carmaker currently has two car models in its portfolio for the Indian market, namely the Gallardo and the Aventador priced Rs 2.8 crore (ex-showroom Delhi) and Rs 6.3 crore (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively. It also plans to launch an new SUV range of car models by the year 2017.
