Honda Cars India expects 50 percent increase in sales in North East

Honda Cars India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese carmaker Honda is expecting a 50 percent increase in its sales for the North East region in India in the fiscal 2013-14. The carmaker hopes for significant growth in the region amid sluggish sales and economic downturn in India.

The Japanese automaker plans to increase focus on the eight North Eastern states of India and is in the process of aggressive expansion of its user base in the area. According to Mr. Jnaneswar Sen Senior Vice-President (Marketing and Sales) Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), the carmaker expects a double digit growth in the North East region.

Mr. Sen added that the region has a lot of potential for hatchbacks and compact sedans. He stated that the region currently has a small base which holds promise to show significant growth. The highest demand is being witnessed for the Brio hatchback and the Amaze and City sedans.
