Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer is now offering discounts on its volume selling car models namely the Swift hatchback and the Swift DZire mid-size sedan. The decision by the automaker to offer discount on the car models may be the result of low sales in the compact car segment.
The Indian subsidiary of the Japanese carmaker Suzuki now offers the Swift hatchback at a discount of Rs 5,000 while the Swift DZire sedan is now available with a discount of Rs 10,000.
The largest carmaker in India has been hit by the sluggish economic activity in the Indian car market. The fate is shared by other carmakers as the growth forecast of the industry has been reduced to 0-1 percent by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
