Japanese carmaker Suzuki Motor Corporation, the parent company of India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has announced the achievement of crossing the 30,00,000 figure in terms of the cumulative global sales of the Swift hatchback since its launch in the year 2004.
The Japanese automaker launched the first Swift car model in 2004 in the Japanese car market. The hatchback came into the Indian car market in the year 2005 where the company started producing the hatchback locally.
The Swift hatchback is sold in more than 120 global auto markets. The sales of the hatchback in India have contributed to about 45 percent of the total 30,00,000 sales which comes to a total of about 13,50,000 car sales in India. The Japanese auto market contributed about 13 percent of the sales while about 23 percent of the total sales are credited to the European car market.
