Maruti Suzuki India targets the top spot in car exports

Maruti Suzuki, the Indian arm of the Japanese carmaker Suzuki and India’s largest car manufacturer has now decided to build a base for manufacturing 30,00,000 cars by the year 2018. The automaker looks to become the largest car exporter in India.

Through the expansion of its manufacturing base, the carmaker will also introduce 10 new vehicle models which will include vehicles for the light commercial segment.

The Japanese automaker will put bring together a team of experts from the top level management which will be led by Osawa Naoki, T Suzuki, Hosai and K Imegawa. A number of Indian executives from the marketing, R&D, sales and production verticals will also be roped in to drive the expansion. The Japanese company will working in collaboration with its Indian unit to generate new car platforms and models.

In line with the new ‘Working Together’ plan, Maruti Suzuki will be launching 10 new vehicles which will include premium cars, SUVs and light commercial vehicles. India will become a global manufacturing hub for the automaker.

Currently, Suzuki has a 54.2 percent stake in Maruti and is the tenth largest carmaker globally. Maruti Suzuki is attributed for one-third of Suzuki’s global sales and 40 percent of the profits from global operations.
