Mahindra Reva, India’s only electric four-wheeler manufacturer and part of Mahindra and Mahindra Group is in the process of striking ties with various power distributions companies, malls and entities such as the State Bank of India and Café Coffee Day as part of its strategy to drive sales of its first four-seater electric car NXR in India.
The NXR electric car is slated for a launch by the end of November 2012 and the automaker is preparing to set up the infrastructure required to support the recharging and powering of the car’s batteries. Charging stations will be installed at various locations where the customers will be allowed to charge their cars’ batteries apart from the Mahindra and Mahindra service centers.
Mr. Chetan Maini Chief Technology Officer and Founder at Reva stated that the company will have installed about 50-200 charging stations in every city the car will be launched. The aim of having these charging stations is to provide a convenient charging point to the customers within a radius of 5 kilometers at every place, he added.
Reva has established ties with the electricity distribution companies in Delhi which have installed about 50 charging points for the electric vehicles. Similarly, Infosys and Wipro are providing charging points in the city of Bangalore.
