Ford India reports 8.29 percent fall in sales in September 2012

Ford India, the Indian subsidiary of the American automobile manufacturer Ford has posted a decrease in its total sales for the month of September 2012. The sales of the carmaker in the month stood at 9,418 units in comparison to 10,270 units sold in September 2011.

The domestic sales of the company stood at 7,794 units in September 2012 against 7,801 units sold in the same month in 2011. The company exported 1,624 units in the month compared with 2,469 units exported in September 2011, a decline of 34.22 percent.

According to Mr. Michael Boneham President and Managing Director Ford India, the company has seen marginal improvement in the overall market situation and expects the sales to pick up with the beginning of the festival season.

He added that the carmaker has enhanced its diesel engine production capacity in order to meet the rise in demand for diesel car models during the upcoming festival season.
