Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturing company has started inviting bookings for the Alto 800 which is slated for a launch on October 16, 2012. The company reports more than 10,000 visitors to the website marutisuzukialto800.com and states it has opened bookings for the new mini car ahead of the launch.
The price of the new car model has not been released as a strategy to spike interest in customers who are considering booking the car before the launch. According to industry experts, the Alto 800 may be priced higher than the existing Alto model and state the company’s strategy to be aimed at boosting demand and sales for the car taking into consideration the festive season in India which is considered by many to be an auspicious time to buy new products.
The existing Alto car model has been facing low sales throughout the April to August period in 2012 and has fallen by 35 percent. The company expects the new car launch to boost its sales and regain its lost share in the mini car segment in the Indian car market.
