German automaker Volkswagen has reported a marginal decline in its sales in the month of June 2012. The company sold 5,371 units in the month in comparison to 5,397 units sold in June 2011. The decline has been attributed by the company to the overall sluggishness in the Indian automobile industry due to high fuel prices and high interest rates.
According to Mr. Neeraj Garg Volkswagen Group Sales India Member of Board and Director Volkswagen Passenger Cars, the company has secured good sales figures in the month with respect to the economic slowdown in the industry and the low consumer sentiments. He added that the company is hopeful of a revival in sales numbers.
Volkswagen India is a part of the Volkswagen Group which owns various luxury car brands such as Audi, Bentley, Bugatti and Ducati.
