Maruti Suzuki India total sales increase 20.3 percent

India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has sold a total of 96,597 units including domestic sales and exports in the month of June 2012. The figures are up by 20.3 percent in comparison to 80,298 units sold in June 2011. The domestic sales of the company grew 19.3 percent from 70,020 units in June 2011 to 83,531 units in June 2012 while the exports grew from 10,278 units in June 2011 to 13,066 units in June 2012, an increase of 27.1 percent.

The mini passenger car segment including the M800, the Alto, the A-Star and the WagonR saw a dip of 10.4 percent in sales from 38,183 units in June 2011 to 34,198 units in June 2012. The compact passenger car segment of the company grew by 39 percent to 22,624 units in June 2012 from 16,239 units in the same period in 2011. Significant growth was witnessed in the super compact segment consisting of the DZire sedan with a 452.7 percent increase in sales from 2,486 units in June 2011 to 13,741 units in June 2012.

The utility vehicle segment saw the largest growth of 2947.6 percent from 185 units sold in June 2011 to 5,638 units sold in June 2012. The segment includes the Gypsy, the Grand Vitara and the newly launched Ertiga.
