American automobile manufacturer Ford Motor Company has announced its plans to spend more than Rs 1.3 crores on corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities for communities across seven villages in Tamil Nadu through its initiative ‘Operation Goodwill’. The initiative will encompass issues of education, health, safety, environment and general welfare of the people in these communities.
According to Mr. Michael Boneham President and Managing Director Ford India, the company has been given the mentioned grant by the Ford Motor Company Fund for the initiative. He added that half of the grant will be spent on the focus areas through three non-government organizations (NGO) in the first phase. Separate announcement will be made regarding the use of the remaining grant.
The company has a manufacturing facility about 50 kilometers from these villages and the initiative is part of the company’s CSR initiative.
