Maruti Suzuki India Limited will be signing an agreement with the Gujarat government in order to procure 1200 acres of land at Mehsana in June 2012 for its production facility. The company will be handed over 600 acres of land by the Gujarat government while the remaining 600 across will be privately acquired by it.
The company targets the year 2016 to commence operations at the new plant, construction on which will start from 2013. A vendor park will also be developed by the company at Mehsana. The company’s car manufacturing facility at Gurgaon will be transformed into an engine manufacturing plant.
Maruti Suzuki India has launched its utility vehicle Ertiga creating a new vehicle segment in India and expects to boost sales with the new launch.
