Honda India car sales jump 3 fold in March

Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) which is a joint venture between the Indian company Siel Group and the Japanese auto major Honda has witnessed a three-fold increase in its cars sales for the month of March 2012 selling 11,016 units in comparison to 3,576 units in March 2011.

According to Mr. Jnaneswar Sen HSCI Senior Vice-President (Sales and Marketing), the company’s sales have been led by its new small car Brio and the City sedan. The company expects the demand for its products to grow in 2012.

After a series of problems such as shortage of component supply from Japan and Thailand that led to disruption of production across all car models in 2011, HSCI has been unable to turn up sales figures for the fiscal 2011-12. The company’s manufacturing plant in Greater Noida resumed normal production in February 2012. The annual sales of the company for 2011-12 have been reported to be 54,427 units in as compared to 59,463 units in 2010-11.
