Nissan Motor Company is planning to introduce its Datsun brand with cheap cars in India in 2014 as part of its efforts to utilize the potential in the fast growing countries. The company has plans to manufacture and sell the low cost cars in the auto markets of India, Indonesia and Russia.
The company is in the process of expanding its market share in such emerging automobile markets and has taken various steps towards its goal. For instance, it has partnered with India’s Ashok Leyland a major commercial vehicle manufacturer to of triple its market share in Brazil by 2016.
The new car models from the Datsun brand will be developed according to the specific requirement of each market. Moreover, this is the first time that the company is creating a market specific brand for these emerging markets.
