Tata Motors hikes passenger car prices

Tata Motors has increased the prices by Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 12,000 across its passenger car portfolio with the exception of the Nano and the crossover Aria. The increase in prices by the company is a measure to reduce the impact of high input costs and thus the burden has been shared with the customers.

Most of the car manufacturing companies in India have increased their car prices in January 2012 due to the rising input costs and the devaluation of the Indian rupee. These include auto majors like Maruti Suzuki, General Motors, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Mahindra & Mahindra.

India’s second largest car manufacturer Hyundai Motor India has not hiked the prices on its car models even though it stated in December 2011 that an increase of 1.5-2 percent would be implemented.
