Maruti Suzuki to launch New Swift DZire on Feb 1, 2012

Maruti Suzuki India will launch its newly developed sedan Swift DZire on February 1, 2012. The new sedan is a shortened version of the Maruti Swift DZire which will qualify for an excise duty of 10 percent enjoyed by small cars. The price tag for the new sedan is likely to be competitive and comparable to the price of the existing DZire.

The reason for Maruti Suzuki to put a competitive price on the new Swift DZire is that the company has used a new platform for the new sedan and has incorporated about 150 new features in comparison to the existing Swift DZire sedan.

Available with both petrol and diesel engines alternately, the new car has a length of 3.995 meters which enables it with the 10 percent excise instead of the 22 percent imposed on vehicles that are longer than 4 meters. Through the cost saving from this car, the company plans to address the concerns of depreciating Indian rupee against Japanese yen.

However, by reducing length of the car, the company had to as a result reduce the boot space from 440 liters to 316 liter. Maruti Suzuki has also revamped the interiors of the new car with a dual tone color scheme of beige and black.

The top models of the new car, the ZXi and the ZDi will feature various gizmos such as climate control and a company fitted sound system with two additional tweeters. The driving and performance of the new car are expected to be similar to the Swift hatchback.
