Suzuki is planning to raise the stakes in the field of electric and environment friendly cars in India. According to Mr. Toshihiro Suzuki, Suzuki Motor Corporation, Director and Executive Vice President, Executive General Manager (Corporate Planning Office), the company is considering the proposal of launching electric vehicles in India. Mr. Suzuki added that the lack of infrastructure for the electric cars in India is however a big problem and the company may find it hard to find buyers.
Apart from the electric vehicle development, Suzuki is also engaged in developing new fuel efficient cars such as the Electric Hybrid Swift and the new Alto Eco. The company also plans to showcase its new electric concept scooter Swift Sport at the Tokyo Motor Show 2011.
Mr. Suzuki says that the company is trying to line up more diesel engine cars in India and plans to introduce the diesel engine option with its new models to be launched in India.
