Hyundai launches new small car Eon in India

India’s second largest car manufacturer, Hyundai Motor India Limited has launched its much awaited small car Eon on October 13, 2011. The new car has been built on a completely new platform designed for the Indian market. With the launch of this new small car, the company expects to expand its market share in the small car segment in India.

The Eon is powered by a 0.8 L iRDE engine which delivers 56PS@5500rpm of maximum power and 7.65Kgm@4000rpm of peak torque. The 814cc petrol engine, mated to a five speed manual transmission, is claimed to offer a mileage of 21.1kmpl, the highest in the segment. The Eon will be available in 6 variants which are priced as follows:

Based on Hyundai’s new signature policy, the Eon features the ‘Fluidic design’ and claims to offer spacious as well as premium interiors along with a youthful design profile.

Further, the new small car was awarded the prestigious Environmental Certificate in accordance with the ISO 14040 standard. The award was based on a lifecycle assessment conducted by TUV NORD, Germany.
