Honda’s third two wheeler manufacturing plant in Narasapur, India

After Manesar (Haryana) and Tapukara (Rajasthan), Honda’s third two wheeler manufacturing plant in India will be set up in Narasapur, 52 kilometers from Bangalore. The plant apart from adding more capacity would also cater to the demand generated by the entire Southern India.

The new plant will be ready by the first half of 2013 and will manufacture around 12,00,000 two wheelers annually. The 3,50,000 square meter plant will be set up with an investment of Rs. 1,000 crore and is expected to employ a workforce of 3,000 locals.

Mr.Takashi Nagai, Honda Motor Company’s Operation Officer for South West Asia and Mr. Keita Matsumara, President & CEO of HMSI, were present during the ground breaking ceremony of the plant. Chief Minister Mr. D.V. Sadananda Gowda and the Union Minister for Railways Mr. K.H. Muniyappa were also present for the occasion.

Once the company’s third plant is fully operational, the company plans to boost its production capacity to 40,00,000 two wheelers a year by the middle of 2013. The company currently produces 2,80,000 two wheelers each year.
