Renault gearing up to launch Renault Modus in the Indian market

French luxury carmaker Renault is gearing-up to launch its new hatchback Modus in the Indian market. Spotted during test rounds, the new hatchback is expected to have the same engine as Nissan Micra, although its engine control unit is expected to be imported from Japan. The car is expected to cost Rs. 4,50,000 more than the Nissan Micra.

The new hatchback Modus is expected to have more aesthetically appealing interiors apart from better air-conditioning and interior plastics. The company plans to introduce both the diesel and petrol variant of Renault Modus, but for some unforeseen reason would delay the launch of the diesel variant.

The hatchback will compete with the likes of Ford Figo, Toyota Etios Liva and Maruti Suzuki. The French car maker had made its debut in India in 2011 with the launch of its Fluence and has arranged a series of impressive launches for the next few years.
