Honda to recall 3,47,000 pilot SUVs worldwide

Honda Motor Co. has announced its decision to recall 3,47,000 Pilot SUVs word wide from 2009 to 2011 model years to inspect the front seat belts. The faulty seat belts could become disconnected from the anchor webbing in the event of a crash, potentially increasing the risk of an injury.

The car manufacturer in a recent statement stated that due to a manufacturing error, the lap section of the belt to the outboard anchor webbing could be either incomplete or not be present at all. Although so far no injuries or death have been reported owing to this fault.

The company will start sending out written notification to the SUV owners by the first week of October 2011. As a part of the recall 3,11,000 SUVs in the US, 10,000 in Canada, 8,000 in Mexico and some from other countries around the world would be recalled.

Prior to the recall of the Pilot SUVs, the company had also recently recalled large number of Honda City sedan worldwide to due faulty power window switches.
